Bond, James Bond

This game is pretty good

007 First Light

When I heard that IO Interactive was making a James Bond game, I wasn’t immediately sure if it would be my thing. I know the Hitman games have beeen received realy well, but sandbox games don’t always hold my interest. I typically need a narrative hook to keep me going, and 007 First Light’s story is quite good. It doesn’t do anything new or groundbreaking, but the story provides a reason to keep pushing forward. The mix of sandbox infiltration scenarios and large setpiece action scenes mix up the gameplay enough that I was never bored.

One of the highlights of the game is the voice cast. Patrick Gibson’s performance is absolutely fantastic. His mix of snark and suave gives a good portrayal of a young, unpolished James Bond. It also wouldn’t be prudent of me to praise the voice cast without giving a shout-out to Lennie James as Greenway. He plays the mentor role to James with a heavy dose of dry British humor.

Overall, 4/5 stars. Would reccommend.
