About me

I'm Erich, a software engineer who has spent about two decades building things across the stack: enterprise infrastructure early on, consumer platforms in the middle, and AI-powered products today.

Right now I'm Lead Engineer at Hamlet, where we turn the sprawl of local-government meetings and agendas into data you can actually search and analyze. It's a mix of data pipelines and LLM-powered features aimed at making civic information accessible.

Before Hamlet, I spent seven years at DoorDash working on consumer-platform infrastructure and their experimentation platform. Earlier, at Pivotal, I managed and coached engineering teams in agile and test-driven development before returning to hands-on work splitting monoliths into microservices. I got my start at HP, building data-center management tools.

For a couple of years I also maintained Robolectric, an Android testing framework. Across all of it, the throughline has been a soft spot for developer experience: good tooling, fast feedback loops, and lately, figuring out how to build well alongside coding agents.

When I'm not typing away at the keyboard, I like to spend my time hiking the Bay Area hills with my family, ferrying my kids to soccer practice, and trying to find a few minutes to play whatever video game has caught my eye (PC and Console - I'm not picking sides in that war).
